Education: Master of Arts Fordham University
Master of Science Administrative Medicine/Hospital Administration Columbia University School Medicine/Public Health
Experience: Mr. Tarantini has had extensive experience in hospital operations and Finance, & Physician Practice Management.

Mr. Tarantini led the engagement at the University of Michigan that led to the reduction in Accounts Receivable and major improvements to reimbursement from third-party payors through HSMN’s work on the key areas that have the greatest impact on the Revenue Cycle. In his work in this area, Mr. Tarantini created new roles for support staff. Processes and workflow were assessed, redesigned and new ones put into place. These new roles were aligned with a new organizational structure built to support the Hospital’s Revenue Cycle.

Much emphasis was also put on work with the Medical staff and their clinical documentation. The Coding staff was reassigned so that they would work more closely and better understand what is needed to support a clean claim.

Working with a new breed and new software, Mr. Tarantini helped to implement a “Reimbursement Specialist Program” in which staff were trained on all of the contracts to recognize covered, and discounted services. Mr. Tarantini working with the Medical Staff participated in the development, the design and development of the Electronic Patient Record (Smithsonian Award for Technology) at the Johns Hopkins Health System. Reviews and redesign of data collection tools, charge master, coding, and billing issues for both faculty and hospital were a part of these projects.

Mr. Tarantini has recently redesigned workflows for Admitting, Registration, patient financial services and Medical Records including a reconciliation process for potential and actual denials for payment at a four-hospital system in the Boston area.
Experience (other): Prior to developing a consulting practice, Mr. Tarantini was the Associate Director of the Gouverneur Health Services Program of the Beth Israel Hospital; managing all aspects of patient care management. He was the Chief Operating Officer of the Metropolitan Hospital, one of the acute care hospitals and large ambulatory care network of the New York City municipal system. The hospital served as the prime teaching site for the New York Medical College. Mr. Tarantini was responsible for day-to-day operations and all clinical departments. Subsequent to his hospital operation, Mr. Tarantini developed one of the country’s first Practice Management Companies.
